The recreational opportunities in and around Chambers County, Alabama are wide reaching. If you enjoy living life outdoors, Chambers County offers plentiful opportunities for exceptional hunting, fishing and golfing. The county’s location also offers prime access to both major college and professional sporting events.
Our community hosts numerous annual events throughout the year. Events such as the wintertime Merry-Go-Round in Valley, Professional Cowboy Association rodeo hosted in LaFayette in the spring and fall, and the annual film festival hosted in Lanett are just a few events that are enjoyable to all. Home to state award winning sporting teams, makes sporting events another way to have a fun family evening.
Chambers County Attractions
Valley Community Center
The City of Valley’s 54,000 square-foot community center has many features, including an indoor pool, two racquetball courts, two gyms that can be opened into a large meeting room to serve as a community center, a fitness center, game room, catering/kitchen, and indoor walking track.
Point University Golf Course
In 2015, Point University was gifted the Riverside Country Club, a golf, tennis, dining and events center located in Lanett. As home to the Point Skyhawks golf team, the course provides a top-notch practice facility and a challenging course for competitive match play.
Chambers County Lake
The Chambers County Lake is a 183-acre public fishing lake made possible by the combined efforts and cooperation of the people of Chambers County and the Alabama Department of Conservation. It is located five miles southeast of LaFayette on Chambers County Road 83. Amenities at the lake include a boat ramp, fishing pier, restrooms, concessions (bait, tackle and snacks), and a primitive camping site.
Chattahoochee River
The Chattahoochee River forms the southeastern border of Alabama and Georgia, and is divided by a series of dams, including West Point Dam. It offers exceptional fishing, paddling and hiking. Valley partnered with The Trust for Public Land to create a paddling trail along a beautiful, 52-mile stretch of the river. The Blueway Water Trail includes launch points, portages, and camp spots for canoeists, paddle boarders, and kayakers.
Penton Raceway
Penton Raceway is a 3/8-mile clay oval that hosts weekly dirt track racing throughout the spring and summer. Located just north of LaFayette, the track is locally owned and hosts several racing divisions including, Bandits, Hobby, Limited Sportsman, and Crate Late Models. Special events include NeSmith Super Late Model Series, Sprint Cars and the Alabama Crate Mini Series.
